美國務院官員：台灣一直是重要夥伴

【陳培煌／台北報導】 美國國務院亞太副助理國務卿梅建華（Kin Moy）本月3日在美國卡內基國際和平基金會以「美台關係之趨勢（Trends in the U.S.-Taiwan Relationship）」為題發表演說強調，台灣一直是、也將繼續是美國的重要夥伴。

外交部晚間發布新聞稿表示，梅建華演說中提到台美關係淵遠流長，涵蓋商業、文化、教育、貿易、環保與安全關係，已繁榮發展數十年，雙方人民均蒙其利。美國戰略的關鍵部分，即是建立全面性、持久且互惠（comprehensive, durable, mutually beneficial）的台美關係。過去60年來，美國與台灣往來已支持台灣成為今日經濟與政治的成功故事，此一成就實乃台灣人民的努力與決心所致。

外交部說，梅建華在演說中並重申美方讚揚近年來兩岸關係進展，鼓勵兩岸繼續此一工作，並肯定台灣以和平與建設性方式，與日本及菲律賓合作解決爭端。
