曾經將黃金稱為「終極資產泡沫(the ultimate asset bubble)」的投資大師索羅斯(George Soros)繼去(2012)年第4季、今年第1季拋售黃金ETF(指數股票型基金)後，第2季已將手中部位全數出清。此外，號稱黃金多頭總司令的對沖基金管理人John Paulson旗下基金Paulson & Co. Q2也展開大幅拋售黃金ETF的行動。

MarketWatch、彭博社等多家外電報導，索羅斯掌管的索羅斯基金管理公司(Soros Fund Management LLC)8月14日於美國股市收盤後向美國證券管理委員會(SEC)揭露，截至2013年6月30日為止的三個月期間，該基金已將全球擁有最多實體黃金儲備量的ETF「SPDR Gold Trust(GLD)」全數出清。去年Q4(2012年10-12月)，索羅斯基金管理公司對SPDR Gold Trust的持股大減55%至60萬股，今年Q1更進一步季減11.5%至530,900股。

此外，SEC 14日的資料顯示，SPDR Gold Trust最大投資者Paulson & Co.也在Q2期間將持股由前季的2,180萬股大砍53%至1,020萬股。Paulson在一份電子郵件中表示，避險需求降低，是該公司決定減碼的主因。

Paulson Q1底(截至3月31日為止)對SPDR Gold Trust的持股仍達21,837,552股，持平於前季。嘉實XQ全球贏家系統報價顯示，黃金現貨價在今年Q2期間總計重挫了22.76%。

SEC資料並顯示，Paulson在Q2期間將全球最大金礦商加拿大巴瑞克黃金公司(Barrick Gold Corporation)所有買權全部平倉，但將全球最大上市銅生產商美國自由港-麥克莫蘭銅金公司(Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc.)的持股拉升逾70%。
